چکیده

3,3′-Diaminobenzidine was applied at doses of 5, 10, 25, and 50 mg kg−1 of soil and their effects were evaluated on indigenous soil microbial communities (viable aerobic bacteria, fungal populations, aerobic N2-fixing bacteria, denitrifying, and nitrifying bacteria), and soil enzymatic activities (acid and alkaline phosphatases, arylsulfatase, and dehydrogenase). At doses of 5 or 10 mg kg−1, 3,3′-diaminobenzidine increased the numbers of culturable soil bacteria, including Azotobacter spp., nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria. Higher doses (25–50 mg kg−1) enhanced growth of aerobic nitrogen fixers too, but negatively affected denitrifying and nitrifying bacterial groups, altering the natural balance of populations involved in N cycling. Fungi were not strongly affected by any doses tested. All enzymatic activities in soil were enhanced by application of 3,3′-diaminobenzidine. © 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Predicting the amount of sequestrated carbon in rangeland soil under the effect of soil sampling depth and height using the response surface methodology (RSM)

Background and objectives: Organic carbon is one of the important parameters to determine soil fertility, and production ability and is a mind index for showing soil quality, especially in dry and semi-dry lands. The rangelands are composed of about 50 % of the world's lands and have more than 33 % of carbon reservoirs on earth. Considering the ranges as the most important terrestrial ecosystem...

The Effect of Soil Type on Seismic Response of Tall Telecommunication Towers with Random Vibration Analysis

Random vibration analysis of tall structures faces multiple problems due to the large number of elements and high degrees of freedom; that is why this type of analysis is mostly used in simple structures and low degrees of freedom. In the past two decades, changes have been occurred in this type of analysis to be used in complex structures and the large number of elements. Pseudo-Excitation Met...

Growth characteristics and response of wheat to cadmium, nickel and magnesium sorption affected by zeolite in soil polluted with armaments

The presence of large heavy metal concentrations in soil polluted with chemical weapons causes serious operational restrictions against cultivation of agricultural crops like wheat. To solve this problem, the usage of zeolite has been proposed as one of the most efficient practical approaches. The main objective of this research is the investigation of the influence of natural Iranian zeolite o...

Analyzing the Effects of Soil-Structure Interactions on the Static Response of Onshore Wind Turbine Foundations Using Finite Element Method

The use of wind turbines to generate electricity has increased in recent years. One of the most important parts of a wind turbine is the foundation, which should be designed accurately because it is influenced by difference forces. Soil cannot carry tension stress; thus, when a wind turbine foundation is applied eccentricity forces, a gap appears between the soil and foundation. The gap will ha...
